I received two notifications today from PhilMusicSG about the new files uploaded entitled ‘Member Profile - XXX’s to the group site and these emails got my curiosity caught off-guard. So I checked the group and after reading some of the posted profiles (I even saw one profile of someone I know, given band positions were exaggerated. Napakamot na lang ako ng ulo.), I decided to follow them the ‘trip-trip lang‘ way. But I decided to post the details here. Di na kailangang ilagay dun.

Music is in my family’s blood. I thought I don’t have the talent and the voice to sing until when I was in Grade 3 when I first joined our school choir. I knew then that I am the weakest link in the family. Haha! Because I’m the lousiest singer in the family. After the discovery, I was normally the common person that can be seen in the church – choir, commentator, psalmer and altar server (if there’re no assignments). I can still remember those days when my mentor pushed me to sing the end part of ‘Papuri Sa Diyos’ (Glory to God) on its highest possible note.My older brother taught me how to play guitar at the age of 13. But his teaching technique made me to refuse guitar playing. Normally, beginners first learn how to play ‘line to heaven’ by Introvoys but for me, ‘Is it ok if I call you mine’ and ‘China eyes’ were the first songs I played – in power chords. I failed my brother that time, though I continued playing the guitar from time to time. All I can do that time was watch my older brother, sister and my cousin jam.
I reconciled with singing when Mark Abad (bestfriend) and I met in college. We’re the partner/duo in crime during those days. Acoustic is our preference and idle day for us means jamming day. I can say, we’re the sought after performers during those days. Haha!
Graduation wasn’t the end of our road. Mark and I decided to form a band after college and had a regular practice (every week or sometimes, twice a week) and our first acoustic performance was in one of the bars in Pasong Tamo (sorry forgot the name). ‘Breaktym’ was the first name of the band but later, it was changed to ‘Pablikshul’. We normally do covers from Audioslave to STP, Rivermaya to Wolfgang. It was during those days that I discovered a new passion – songwriting.
I left the band because of Singapore. Months passed, I met Wally Cenon of Kernel Panic as referred by friends who are already working and playing music here in Singapore. I was part of KP’s first gig of 2007. Months passed, Wally decided to push for a new band. To complete the line up, I invited my SFC friends, Carlou Suarez, Crom Arriesgado and Jay-R Mercado to join the band and decided to name ourselves Transient Attack.
