I received two notifications today from PhilMusicSG about the new files uploaded entitled ‘Member Profile - XXX’s to the group site and these emails got my curiosity caught off-guard. So I checked the group and after reading some of the posted profiles (I even saw one profile of someone I know, given band positions were exaggerated. Napakamot na lang ako ng ulo.), I decided to follow them the ‘trip-trip lang‘ way. But I decided to post the details here. Di na kailangang ilagay dun.

Earliest Recollection on Music (short story):
Music is in my family’s blood. I thought I don’t have the talent and the voice to sing until when I was in Grade 3 when I first joined our school choir. I knew then that I am the weakest link in the family. Haha! Because I’m the lousiest singer in the family. After the discovery, I was normally the common person that can be seen in the church – choir, commentator, psalmer and altar server (if there’re no assignments). I can still remember those days when my mentor pushed me to sing the end part of ‘Papuri Sa Diyos’ (Glory to God) on its highest possible note.

My older brother taught me how to play guitar at the age of 13. But his teaching technique made me to refuse guitar playing. Normally, beginners first learn how to play ‘line to heaven’  by Introvoys but for me, ‘Is it ok if I call you mine’  and ‘China eyes’ were the first songs I played – in power chords. I failed my brother that time, though I continued playing the guitar from time to time. All I can do that time was watch my older brother, sister and my cousin jam.

I reconciled with singing when Mark Abad (bestfriend) and I met in college. We’re the partner/duo in crime during those days. Acoustic is our preference and idle day for us means jamming day. I can say, we’re the sought after performers during those days. Haha!

Graduation wasn’t the end of our road. Mark and I decided to form a band after college and had a regular practice (every week or sometimes, twice a week) and our first acoustic performance was in one of the bars in Pasong Tamo (sorry forgot the name). ‘Breaktym’ was the first name of the band but later, it was changed to ‘Pablikshul’. We normally do covers from Audioslave to STP, Rivermaya to Wolfgang. It was during those days that I discovered a new passion – songwriting.

I left the band because of Singapore. Months passed, I met Wally Cenon of Kernel Panic as referred by friends who are already working and playing music here in Singapore. I was part of KP’s first gig of 2007. Months passed, Wally decided to push for a new band. To complete the line up, I invited my SFC friends, Carlou Suarez, Crom Arriesgado and Jay-R Mercado to join the band and decided to name ourselves Transient Attack.

Previous Bands:
Breaktym / Pablikschul / Kernel Panic (one gig only)

Gears:
Broken acoustic guitar / Broken Washburn electric guitar/ Yamaha DGX220 / Microphone

I saw a laughing Christ at my mom’s altar when I visited Philippines last holiday and inscribed in the image is a poem with a title Learn To Laugh. I read on and was a bit moved with the message. Now, I’m sharing this to you guys. Juat always laugh no matter what…

laughing.jpgGod grant that I may see the joke of things,
The little things that bother now and then.
God grant my sense of humor may be strong
To weep a bit – and yet, to smile again.
God grant there be a chuckle in each tear,
To every trial, God grant a funny half.
And when I’m to be judged; perhaps He’ll say:
“Are you the soul who always tried to laugh?”
And when I nod and answer, “Yes, I am,
I tried to kill my troubles with a grin.”
Perhaps He’ll smile and say, “That was a task,
But here’s the Gate of Heaven, Enter in!”

Spread the love… God bless us all…

It was tuesday evening and I have to run home early because my cousin will be tranferring from my place to a transient room they (with her friend) got in Toa Payoh. Before we left the house, they noticed that the moon is in full. It’s pretty early that time when they notice it and the color of the moon was a bit yellowish so I told them it’s not good to take a shot because of it’s color. After that, we got a cab, went to their new place and after that I went home.

I was at Kallang MRT station when I noticed that the moon is now in white color. It amazed me, the fact that it’s also in full. So I went home in a rush, grabbed my Nikon D80 and dedicated some time to study how to shoot pictures in Manual mode. After some attempts and adjustments, I finally got the picture which I think the best of the images I got. Here’s the picture:

By the way, I influenced my housemate Amie to buy her own dream DSLR the other day. And just this night, she got her new DLSR too - same model as mine. Cool…

Photography is one of the inlined ultimate passions that I want to learn and achieve and thank God, I just got my DSLR last week. It was a tough decision which model should I pick - Canon EOS 400D (Digital Rebel XTI) and Nikon D80. It’s after half-an-hour testing with the models when I decided to go for the later brand. It’s the new toy that I’ll be playing with from now on.

Here are some of the shots I have. I posted them on my multiply site.

I started writing ‘the year that was’ when I graduated high school and it has been a tradition for me to have one every start of the new year. Normally, it is composed of random words, phrases and statements that I’m fond to speak, I heard or I read arranged in a way there could be a double meaning or to make more fancier. For the year 2007, here it is:
